  • Ethiopia’s competitive wage rates and large industrial workforce have also boosted our capacity in light manufacturing―including textile, apparel, and leather products―enabling us to become a strategic partner in global value chain

  • Ethiopia has a vast mineral potential and Mining is Ethiopia´s fastest-growing economic sector which posted a 115% growth rate in 2021 and 91% in 2020, which translated into a five-fold increase of the sector´s contribution to GDP and it is projected to grow by 33% annually, becoming a backbone of agriculture and a catalyst for industrial growth, job creation and export earnings.

  • Ethiopia is the most attractive investment destinations for establishing ICT based businesses. Having the largest workforce in Africa and a digital-focused education system has created a growing, competitive, tech-savvy and English-proficient local talent pool. Our 200-hectare ICT-dedicated industrial park in Addis Ababa, with all necessary infrastructure and services, provides investors with a ‘plug and play’ opportunity.

  • Ethiopia offers investments opportunities in building tourism infrastructure (including hotels and resorts, convention centres, duty-free centres, cultural villages and centres) and the development of selected destinations.

  • Ambassador Urges Indian Investors to Explore Investment Opportunities in Ethiopia

  • H.E. Ambassador Fesseha Shawel, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, delivered akeynote speech at the inaugural session of a conference on “Advanced Manufacturing using AI, ML and Innovation”, organized by World Association for Small and Medium Enterprises (WASME) in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu State, India.

  • H.E. Ambassador Fesseha underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in unlocking the enormous economic potential that exists between Ethiopia and India. He also highlighted Ethiopian Government’s commitment to implementing the economic reforms and creating conducive environment for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). Moreover, His Excellency expounded the trade and investment opportunities in priority sectors (agriculture, manufacturing, ICT, mining and tourism), and urged Indian investors to explore these opportunities.

  • H.E. Prof. KC Jankee, President of WASME and Ambassador of Mauritius to Russia, briefed the audience about the impact of technologies on entrepreneurship and SMEs.

  • Dr. Sanjiv Layek, Executive Secretary of WASME, emphasized WASME’s dedication to empowering SMEs and fostering inclusive growth on a global scale.

  • Country presentations, B2B meetings and industry visits were also parts of the event. WASME’s business delegation will visit Ethiopia in March 2025.
