The President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon paid an official visit to Uzbekistan



       On June 2, at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon arrived in Uzbekistan on an official visit.








President Shavkat Mirziyoyev met him at the Tashkent International Airport. The leaders had a short conversation.


         Then the leader of Tajikistan arrived at the New Uzbekiston park and laid flowers at the Independence Monument.

He examined the complex, got acquainted in detail with the content and architectural features of this ensemble.


           It should be noted that the flower-laying ceremony at this monument has become a traditional visiting point for top-level guests.

The solemn ceremony of the official meeting of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan took place in the residence "Kuksaroy".


             The ceremony was attended by members of the official delegations of the two countries.

             Presidents of two countries held a meeting in a narrow format.


















           The leaders discussed issues of further expansion of mutually beneficial Uzbek-Tajik cooperation based on centuries-old ties of friendship and good neighborliness between the two fraternal peoples.


                  The issues of strengthening bilateral ties, cardinal expansion of the agenda of practical cooperation in the political, inter-parliamentary, trade and economic, transport and logistics, investment, cultural and humanitarian spheres took a central place in the talks.


             Over the past six years, a breakthrough has been achieved in all areas of cooperation. The agreements reached during the talks at the highest level are being successfully implemented. On a regular basis, exchanges are carried out between governments, ministries and departments, as well as regions of the two countries.



















               Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Emomali Rahmon confirmed their commitment to further deepening the multifaceted Uzbek-Tajik strategic partnership.


                The heads of two states expressed their readiness to fill relations with new practical content by actively increasing trade and strengthening industrial cooperation, developing the logistics and transit capabilities of the two countries, as well as implementing water and energy projects.

                An exchange of views took place on the regional and international agenda, issues of ensuring peace and stability in Central Asia were discussed.

















               The firm intention to continue further mutually beneficial cooperation within the framework of multilateral structures was confirmed.


                     President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held talks in an expanded format with the participation of delegations from the two countries.


                    The head of Uzbekistan noted with great satisfaction the huge progress in all areas of multifaceted cooperation, emphasizing that Tajikistan is a close neighbor, a true friend and a time-tested reliable strategic partner.


                 President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed readiness to further strengthen mutually beneficial and comprehensive cooperation in the interests of the two countries and peoples.


             In recent years, bilateral cooperation has intensified noticeably. Trade turnover grew almost 40 times, reaching $600 million. The number of joint ventures has increased 10 times.


                 The successful results of the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Forum held on the eve of the visit, during which new agreements and contracts worth $1 billion were signed.


                Significant results have been achieved in the field of transport, interregional cooperation, parliamentary and cultural and humanitarian ties.


           Effective contacts have been established between the capitals of the two states - Tashkent and Dushanbe, Surkhandarya and Khatlon, as well as Tashkent, Fergana, Samarkand and Sughd regions. During the current visit, the "Roadmap" of cooperation between the Jizzakh and Sughd regions will also be adopted.


                 The Presidents reaffirmed the priority of economic partnership between the fraternal countries and noted the significant potential for a multiple increase in the volume and range of trade.


        The heads of states noted the existence of great prospects in the implementation of projects in the field of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, textile, leather, pharmaceutical, food, agro-industrial, mining, metallurgical and other industries.


               Side noted the importance of the implementation of projects of interregional and industrial cooperation with the active use of the potential of the Uzbek-Tajik Investment Company.


      Agreements were reached on strengthening cultural and humanitarian cooperation. The Presidents stressed the need to pay attention to interaction in the fields of science, education, art, cinema and tourism. A special priority is the development of the intellectual potential and the spiritual world of youth.

               It was noted that the visit of the President of Tajikistan, which is taking place in the year of the establishment of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations, is a clear confirmation of the strength of the centuries-old ties of friendship and good neighborliness between the two fraternal peoples.


        At the end of the talks at the highest level, a ceremony of signing and exchanging documents took place.

















                          President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon signed a historic Declaration on strengthening eternal friendship and alliance.


              In addition, 11 documents were signed at the level of governments, ministries and departments of the two countries, providing for the further expansion of multifaceted Uzbek-Tajik cooperation.


                         As part of the visit of the President of Tajikistan, a ceremony was held to launch the construction of the Yavan hydroelectric power station on the Zarafshan River.


                          This is the first major project of bilateral energy cooperation. A modern plant with a capacity of 140 megawatts will play an important role in ensuring energy security, sustainability of the water and agricultural sectors of two countries.


                  Engineering work will be carried out entirely on the basis of modern standards with the involvement of leading companies.

              Leading international institutions, including the Asian Development Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, showed interest in financing the project.


            The project will strengthen the scientific and industrial potential of the industry, provide "green" energy to thousands and thousands of households and new enterprises.
